“The Abode” series won the “Kinoshock” festival award02.10.2021
On October 2, the results of the Kinoshock festival were summed up. In the competition of television films "TV-SHOCK", the best pictures are determined by the vote of the audience. The 12-episode film "The Abode" directed by Alexander Veledinsky received the maximum number of votes.
The film has brought together a truly stellar cast - starring Evgeniy Tkachuk, Alexandra Rebenok, Sergei Bezrukov, Viktor Dobronravov, Viktor Rakov, Mikhail Bogdasarov, Vladimir Steklov, Yuri Kuznetsov, Mikhail Evlanov, Yakov Shamshin.
Valery Todorovsky, producer of the movie:
– Zahar Prilepin is a big Russian writer, and his “the Abode” is one of his main novels, it is a mighty piece of literature. A talented director, Sasha Veledinsky, really wanted to shoot this movie, and luckily it became a reality. We decided to make it happen together with the “Rossiya” TV channel CEO Anton Zlatopolsky. We made it happen, and I am happy that the movie exists now. I feel that “The Abode '' is a serious, real, and big auteur cinema.
My congratulations to everybody who was involved in the process of its creation, it is a deserved win!
Filming of the new series "Death of a Model" has begun30.09.2021
Valery Todorovsky production company has begun filming a new television series "Death of a Model". The director of the retro detective drama is Sergei Chekalov. The film is starred by Sergei Bezrukov, Aysel Prat, Angelica Markelova, Anna Bogomolova, Alexander Yatsenko, Vladimir Steklov, Daniil Vershinin, Ivan Fominov, Gennady Smirnov, and Sergei Gilev.
The story takes place in Moscow in 1974. It is the heyday of the "Brezhnev" era. The well-being of Soviet workers is growing. However, behind the external well-being the unseen processes that, after a decade and a half, will lead to the death of the empire have already begun ... On an autumn evening, during the runway premiere in the back room of the Model House on Kuznetsky Most, a leading fashion model, Mila Nikanorova, was found hanged. A principled and stubborn investigator of the Moscow Criminal Investigation Department, Kirill Bessonov, begins the investigation. He connects this case with another one, the death of the OBKhSS investigator Kuznetsov - with whom Bessonov's personal tragedy is connected. In the course of the investigation, it turns out that behind the shiny facade of the House of Models, many dark sides were hidden; and a luxurious beauty, a graduate of Moscow State University, Mila Nikanorova, was deeply drawn into them. Jewelry smuggling; girls who are forced to sleep with the “right people” by an administrator who cooperates with the KGB; supplies of accessories for clandestine production at a weaving factory ... This is just the tip of the iceberg which Bessonov is about to discover.
Valery Todorovsky, producer:
– We have been writing the script for the detective series “Death of a Model” for over 5 years, and I am very excited about the result. In the movie, you’ll see the Soviet, as they say now, glamor, which was hidden and inaccessible to ordinary Soviet people. But this world was there, and it was in its own way dangerous and fascinating. The world of models was especially interesting and attractive. Our artists recreate the atmosphere, the scenery, and the costumes of Moscow in the 70s, and this is the most difficult thing in the implementation of such an idea. Well, who knows, perhaps, "Death of a Model" is the beginning of a big detective saga, which will be continued.

"Danube" in the Kinotavr competition 17.08.2021
The film "Danube" by Valery Todorovsky's Production Company "Marmot-Film" has been selected for the competition program of the 32nd Open Russian Film Festival "Kinotavr". This is the directorial debut of Lyuba Mulmenko, who has long been known in the film industry as a talented screenwriter and a playwright.
Among her works are scripts for the films "Loyalty", "What's My Name", "The Hope Factory", as well as authorship of dialogues in Russian for "Coupe No. 6", which won the Grand Prix at the Cannes Film Festival (2021).
The plot of the film "Danube" revolves around an introverted Russian girl Nadia, who went on a vacation to Belgrade, inhabited by extroverted and joyful Serbs. First, she is drawn into an affair with a local guy Nesha, and then into his relaxed, semi-vagrant lifestyle. Both this love and this freedom have to pass a reality check, which is always more difficult than we expect it to be.
Producer Valery Todorovsky about the movie:
— Lyuba Mulmenko, a wonderful screenwriter, makes her film debut with the film “Danube”. This is not an accidental story in her life: at some point she fell in love with Serbia, Belgrade, fell in love with people, fell in love with the language and learned it. This work is completely personal for the author. It is a story about a Russian person in the outside world; about finding yourself in this world; about finding your own path in life. I really hope that the audience will appreciate this film.

"The Abode" is released on the screens 06.05.2021
The @smotrim.ru
platform hosted the premiere of the series "The Abode" based on the book by Zakhar Prilepin. The film brought together a truly stellar cast - the main roles were starred by Evgeny Tkachuk, Alexandra Rebenok, Sergei Bezrukov, Viktor Dobronravov, Viktor Rakov, Mikhail Bogdasarov, Vladimir Steklov, Yuri Kuznetsov, Mikhail Evlanov, Yakov Shamshin.
Alexander Veledinsky, director:
“The Abode” is not a story about camp life ... We are interested in exploring the relationship between man and society from a historical perspective. A lot was written and filmed about the camps of the 30s, but we were attracted by the 20s. This is the most interesting period of the 20th century: the death of the Silver Age, the birth of a new state. "The Abode" is an ark on which Russian people, divided by the Civil War, sail away into the unknown. Our story is about the impossibility of love in a cage.
The film is set in the 1920s. Solovki special camp. Artem Goryainov, a 27-year-old Moscow student who has not completed his studies, ends up in a camp in which the Chekist Fyodor Eikhmanis sets up a large-scale experiment to "re-forge a man." Obsessed with the idea of creating a new society, the head of the camp, Eikhmanis, is building a new civilization on the site of an Orthodox monastery. He believes that the Silver Age continues to live here, in Solovki. From the very first days in the camp Artyom faces severe challenges: hunger, hard labor, a dangerous confrontation with a gang of "thieves", the threat of an execution or a physical violence. Faced with a variety of people - criminals and "political", honest and corrupt, generous and rancorous, - Artyom is trying not only to survive in a deadly adventure, but also to find his truth in life. An unexpected love with the Chekist Galina, who has an affair with Eikhmanis, also becomes a test for him. A dangerous connection can end up with both characters executed ...
The best-selling novel "The Abode" was awarded the prestigious literary prizes "Big Book", "Book of the Year" and "Runet Book Prize", as well as the Russian Government Prize in the field of culture. The book became a real sensation and caused a wide public response.

Anna Vorontsova (Elizaveta Boyarskaya), or as her colleagues in the investigative committee called her, Vorona (craw in Russian), for three weeks refuses to open a case on the disappearance of a famous bohemian photographer. By a fateful coincidence, this person dies. Now, tormented by the pangs of conscience, the heroine makes it her task to sort out this case at all costs.
Elizaveta Boyarskay who starred in the series shared her impressions of the project: “For me this is a completely unexpected genre, I must say that I do not often act in contemporary films. But after reading the script, I simply could not refuse - it turned out to be so exciting. In addition to an interesting and intelligible detective line, in this series there is still soil for playing some kind of personal human drama. I really liked the character of Anna Vorontsova. She is complex and multifaceted: she is both a fighter and a weak girl. The choice of her profession is impressive: being a pianist, in spite of everything - plans, parents, a brilliant career, - she went to the Faculty of Law and began work in the Investigative Committee.
